Kenya's Covid-19 Cases Rise to 234 as One More Patient Dies

President Kenyatta has announced the confirmation of nine additional cases of the coronavirus disease in the country.

Uhuru, while addressing the nation from State House on Thursday, said the nine new cases were detected from 704 samples tested within the past 24 hours. He said the ages of the nine patients range from two to 64 years.

The confirmation of the nine cases raises the total number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in Kenya to 234.

Uhuru also announced the passing of one more patient, bringing the total number of deaths arising from Covid-19 to 11. The total number of recoveries stands at 53.

Further to this, Uhuru indicated that more than 1,000 people are currently in quarantine while 156 are under isolation as they undergo monitoring for the bug.

"Coronavirus is not a respecter of age or race... There are many who are taking this disease lightly. It is everyone's responsibility to take care to ensure this disease does not destroy us,” said Uhuru.
