Kenya's Covid-19 Death Toll Rises to 3 as Cases Soar to 110

Kenya has registered 29 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 110, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

In a media briefing at Afya House, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe also announced the passing of two more Covid-19 patients, increasing the number of fatalities to three.

CS Kagwe said 28 out of the 29 people who tested positive for Covid-19 within the past 24 hours are Kenyans while one is a Congolese national. 

The 29 cases were recorded from 662 samples tested in the last 24 hours. 15 of the patients are female, whereas 14 are male. 

One of the two deaths was registered in Nairobi while the other was recorded in Mombasa, CS Kagwe said.

At the same time, CS Kagwe has announced a new measure aimed at stemming the spread of the virus. He announced that all public transport users will henceforth be required to wear face masks when traveling.

He added that the government will be distributing face masks in the counties at cheaper prices.

“I urge you to observe strict measures of hygiene,” he said.
