Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Friday appeared before a Nairobi court where he was charged with assault and causing bodily harm.
Appearing before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku, Kuria pleaded not guilty to the offenses and was released a KSh20,000 cash bail with an alternative bond of KSh50,000.
He is accused of assaulting Kenyan political commentator Joyce Wanja at Innoro FM studio on December 8th, 2019, when the two had been invited for a show to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
“Nilichapwa na Moses Kuria tarehe nane mwezi wa December tukiwa kwa jumba la Royal Media Services. Nilikuwa nimeitwa show ya Kiririmbi kudiscuss mambo ya BBI,” said Joyce Wanja in a viral video.
Wanja claimed that Kuria assaulted her because she faulted comments that he made during a fundraiser for orphaned children in Kiambu County last month.
“Aliongea maneno ambayo haikuwa inaambatana na event. Tena aliongea ile haifai kuongelewa mbele ya watoto,” she added.
Kuria was on January 10th arrested and booked at Kilimani Police Station after a video of Joyce claiming she was assaulted by the MP went viral online with Kenyans calling for his arrest. He was later released on a KSh20,000 police bond pending plea taking.
The case will be mentioned before Magistrate Mutuku on February 8th, 2020.

@kuria what’s wrong with your head, Kuria? Does it hurt after being aligned in court for beating a woman? Since when did a man starting fighting a woman? Daaaaa!!!
Kuria has a woman problem. He is always talking or engaging in violence against women. We all remember his most vile broken bottles threat against women. If you are a real man and engage other men.
