Three Kenyans Arrested in Nairobi with Counterfeit US Dollars Totaling to Sh1 Billion

Detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday arrested three Kenyans after they were found with counterfeit United States currency totaling to $10 million (Ksh.1 billion).

DCI said the three suspects identified as Joshua Odhiambo, 19, Jane Ogenda, 20, and 27-year-old Dickson Ombaso were nabbed with the fake American Dollars in a house located in Nairobi’s Fedha estate following a tip-off from members of the public.

During the raid, detectives also recovered a fake car number plate, an iPad labeled GOK (Government of Kenya) and chemicals allegedly used in processing fake money.

“Some chemical believed to be used in processing the (fake) currency was also recovered in the suspects' house,” tweeted DCI.

The suspects will be arraigned and charged in court on Friday.
