Jubilee Party's Ahmed Kolosh Wins Wajir West By-election

Ahmed Kolosh of Jubilee Party has been declared the winner of Wajir West parliamentary by-election held on Thursday.

Kolosh garnered 11,053 votes ahead of his closest rival Sheikh Ibrahim of Kenya African National Union (KANU) who got 6,532 votes.

The seat fell vacant after the Supreme Court nullified Kolosh's victory in the August 8th, 2017 elections following a successful petition filed by Sheikh Ibrahim.

Kolosh decamped from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to Jubilee after the Supreme Court overturned his election on January 19th.

17,000 voters turned out to vote in the by-election against the constituency’s 21,544 total registered voters.
