Kenya's Immigration Department is on the spot after a woman's uncollected passport was found on the streets of Nairobi.
The woman, identified as Joy Muya, says she was shocked to learn on the internet that her 'lost' passport had been taken to Parklands Police Station by a good Samaritan after collecting it on the streets.
Ms Muya says she applied for the passport a few weeks ago but was yet to collect it from the Immigration Department's office at Nyayo House in Nairobi.
She wants the Immigration Department to explain how her passport ended up on the streets of Nairobi.
“I got online today (Friday) to find my passport posted on Twitter as lost and found! I hadn’t even picked it out from Nyayo House so I’m wondering how it ended up in Parklands to begin with,” says Muya.
“The Immigration Department should be held accountable for this and explain why they are struggling to carry out simple administrative tasks,” she adds.
The department is yet to issue a statement concerning the incident.
For the department to release a processed passport, the applicant must provide proof of ownership through authentic identification.

Fire all current public employees and start all over again with a fresh crop. All current public employees are infected with a disease called "corruption". This is a major security lapse and we should demand action.
Shouldnt be hard to explain. That passport was carried to parkland by somebody who works in the immigration department,or one who knows a worker there. This is what happens when laws are ignored,or compromised by kitu kidogo...
