Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a Recce Squad officer in connection with the murder of business lady Monica Kimani.
The officer, identified as Jennings Orlando Odhiambo, was arrested in Nairobi on Thursday evening and driven to Muthaiga police station for questioning.
Sources within the DCI say Orlando is currently attached to the United States Embassy in Gigiri, Nairobi.
The suspect has been arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts on Friday where Resident Magistrate Justus Kituku has allowed police to detain him for 14 days as investigations continue.
The judge has ordered that the suspect be brought back to court on November 2nd. DCI officers have also searched his house at Recce Headquarters in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
Police believe Orlando is the man who accompanied Joseph 'Jowie' Irungu, the prime suspect in Monica's murder case, on the night the businesswoman was brutally killed at her apartment in Nairobi.
Irungu, together with his fiancée, Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe have already been charged with the murder of the 29-year-old woman. The two denied the charge and their bail hearing will be on October 24th.
The Standard earlier reported that Orlando escaped to Mombasa after the incident, where he sought 'cleansing' from a witchdoctor.
The lifeless body of Monica was found dumbed in a bathtub inside her Kilimani estate apartment with the throat slit.
