Burglars Steal Sh20 Million after Breaking into Family Bank's Ruiru Branch

Family Bank has confirmed that suspected robbers broke into its Ruiru town branch and made away with more than Sh20 million.
Ruiru police boss James Ng’etich said the bank management reported that the premise's alarm had been tampered with and the fire alarm vandalized. The OCPD said detectives are investigating the incident.
“After opening the bank, the bank's security manager discovered that the alarm system had been tampered with and on further checking, he discovered that the fire alarm system had been vandalized and concluded that all was not well in the bank,” read a police signal.
“They [robbers] managed to access the strong room to the safe by cutting the door using welding gas cylinder power and further accessed branch ATM machine using claw bars and the welding gas power,” the signal further read.
In a statement, the bank said relevant authorities are probing the incident, but services at the outlet remained normal.
"We wish to inform our customers that our Ruiru branch is fully operational and open for business," said the bank's statement on Monday.
The robbery is suspected to have happened during the night of either Saturday or Sunday, raising questions on how the security breach went unnoticed for a whole weekend.
Reports indicate three top officers and a security guard have so far been questioned over the robbery.
