Oburu Odinga Stripped Of Bondo ODM Ticket, Nomination Issued to Ochanda

The Orange Democratic Movement National elections board has affirmed incumbent Gideon Ochanda as the winner of Bondo Constituency ODM ticket.

ODM National Elections Board chairperson Judith Pareno while addressing the media on Saturday dismissed the declaration of ODM leader Raila Odinga’s brother Oburu Odinga as the winner of the primary election held last Tuesday.

Earlier, ODM had invalidated Ochanda's win, declaring nominated MP Oburu Oginga winner of the party ticket for the constituency seat.

Results controversially announced on Wednesday had Oburu garner 15,784 votes against Ochanda's 9,538. But there were claims that incumbent Ochanda had amassed 28,446 votes against Oburu's 4,000.

The results were later suspended by the ODM elections body pending a determination to determine the legitimate winner of the nominations, but Oburu maintained that he had defeated Ochanda with a big margin demanding to be declared the winner.
