Nine Musicians Feared Dead as Boat Capsizes in Lake Victoria

Nine musicians are feared dead after boat they were boarding capsized in Lake Victoria.

Confirming the incident, Nyangoma assistant deputy commissioner Angeline Were said that they were suspecting that the boat developed technical problems, adding that police were investigating the incident to get more details.

A total of 17 artistes from the Boyieta Wuod Awasi music group  were being ferried to  Ndenda Island in Siaya County from Lihunda beach in Bondo before the boat sank. Eight other members of the band were rescued alive.

It is not yet clear what caused the accident.

The team was expected to perform at a concert in Ndenda on Saturday.
