MP Aspirant Dies in Kisii

South Mugirango Constituency Parliamentary aspirant Ezekiel Okengo passed on in a Kisii Hospital on Saturday. Okengo, who was contesting for the seat on a KANU ticket, succumbed to death on Saturday morning at Tabaka Mission Hospital after two weeks of admission at the medical facility.

Okengo vied for the same seat in for the 2013 on a Narc Kenya party ticket but lost to Manson Naymweya. He also ran for the seat in the 2010 by election.

Confirming his death, his son Moturi said that the family was yet to receive the full medical report from the hospital.

"We are saddened by the loss of our father. He has been sick for almost one month,” he said.

Kanu Fresh Kisii aspirants coordinator Daniel Raburi said that Okengo had filed nomination papers with the party to contest for South Mugirango seat.

"It is a sad moment for the party and the people of South Mugirango. He was among the strong party members and dedicated aspirant," Raburi stated.

Okengo served as a probation officer in Kisii before he joined politics in 2010 and has also been a businessman.
