Kenya is just three steps away from securing direct flights to the United States, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed.
KCAA Director General Gilbert Kibe says a team from the Federal Aviation Administration is expected in the country next month to ascertain the country’s compliance with prerequisite standards before being granted the much awaited nod.
KCAA says Kenya has met five of the eight critical elements.

The direct flights to and from Kenya are already overdue!!!
Those Drug Trafficking naijas are going to love it. Easy route/easy money for them.
Direct flights may not be a pancea for KQs troubles, its a loss making proposition. I travelled with Ethiopian airlines and it was empty all the way to addis they had to cancel the return flight. KQ cant sustain those losses.
For those of you who are old enough to remember, East African Airways tried flying across the Atlantic several decades ago and failed miserably. Kenya Airways will not be able to stand the competition flying across the Atlantic. Further to that, in this day and age, with all the corruption going on in Kenya, I highly doubt the FAA will approve a direct flight from Kenya to the United States anytime soon.
