A major investment conference is being organised by Kenyan expatriates in London for next week.

The event, the Kenya Diaspora Investment Forum, will take place at Kensington Town Hall next Saturday (Feb 25) when the organisers hope over 1,000 people will attend.

It is being organised by Kenyans for Kenya in conjunction with the Kenyan High Commission in the UK.

Speakers will include senior government officials and representatives of major investment houses in Kenya including the Nairobi Stock Exchange, Kenya Investment Authority and several banks.

Kenya’s diaspora currently remits around US $500 million to the economy each year. The community is estimated to be around 150,000, many of whom have vital expertise in the fields of health care, academia and management.

But the diaspora contribute hugely to Kenya in terms of support for small and medium micro businesses, family support and building and infrastructure projects.
