Printer-friendly versionSend to friendPDF version

Tonight, just hours after the government released the results of the national population census; KTN unearths a racket that appears to have the blessings of some government officials, the police and a clique of immigration officials working with a group that has been smuggling into Kenya, thousands of illegal aliens.

The scam that sees almost 162 illegal aliens enter the country daily from the Kenya – Somali border and from refugee camps in north eastern province has been going on unabated for some time now. Most of the foreigners illegally enter the country through Hagdera district near Dadaab in north eastern province.

Not surprising, the government ordered a recount of locals in some districts in north eastern province after census figures which emerged after the census indicated that they were highly inflated.

In the first part of our four part series “smugglers of men”, KTN’s senior investigative reporter, Dennis Onsarigo, documents the smuggling of illegal aliens into the country under the watchful eyes of law enforcement agents.
