32 year-old Thomas Kamau Kinyanjui passed away on Thursday, August 19 in Manitoba, Canada after succumbing to leukemia.

The Late Kinyanjui came to the United States in 1996 and lived here until 2008 when he moved to Canada.

A memorial service in honor of the late Kinyanjui will be held on Sunday, August 29 at the Divine Gospel Ministries in Worcester, MA starting at 2pm. The address is 65 Tainter St, Worcester, MA 01610.

UPDATE: Three Kenyan nationals were sentenced to prison in federal court Thursday for their roles in an international scam that tried to defraud state governments out of millions of dollars.

Robert M. "Robe" Otiso, 36, of Elk River, Minn., was sentenced to 72 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John T. Copenhaver Jr. Paramena J. Shikanda, 35, of Minneapolis, received 46 months, and Collins K. Masese, 21, of St. Paul, Minn., received nine months, which he has already served.

US President Barack Obama has said Kenya plays an important role in the region and, therefore, its success both politically and economically is of utmost importance to the US.

"Given Kenya’s importance in the region, its democracy and prosperity are of special concern to the US," he said.

President Obama said the US has been supportive and frank about its concerns over the last two years, as Kenya worked toward implementing fundamental reforms necessary to put its democracy and future prosperity on a firmer footing.

Higher Education minister William Ruto and other key campaigners against the new Constitution were spared in Monday’s Cabinet reshuffle.

In the changes announced by President Kibaki in consultation with Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Mr Ruto retained his position as Higher Education minister. So did Information and Communications minister Samuel Poghisio.

No minister in the ‘No’ campaign was dropped from the Cabinet.
