Election losers and party loyalists have dominated the list of nominees for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) submitted to Parliament by Jubilee and Nasa on Thursday.
Jubilee Party tabled 15 names, while NASA submitted 12 names of candidates to the Clerk of National Assembly Michael Sialai and his Senate counterpart Jeremiah Nyegenye.
National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and his Senate counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen tabled the names on behalf of President Uhuru's party, while leader of Minority in the National Assembly John Mbadi and Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula presented the list on behalf of Nasa.
Among those nominated by Nasa include Raila's brother Oburu and Musyoka’s son Kennedy. On the other hand, Jubilee awarded party loyalists such as former Kamukunji MP Simon Mbugua and former Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi.
Others in the Jubilee list include former Commission of Implementation of the Constitution Chairman Charles Nyachae and former Clerk of the National Assembly Justin Bundi.
Nasa Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya, Fatuma Ibrahim, Winfred Mutua are others in the list presented by the opposition. The names of the nominees will be sent to Parliament for vetting. Jubilee will get five slots while NASA will have four.
