The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) says the commission is meeting with the legal team to discuss the way forward, following the announcement by NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Tuesday that he is withdrawing from the October 26th repeat election.
“Following the withdrawal of the NASA presidential candidate, the Commission and the legal team are meeting and will communicate way forward,” the commission wrote on its official Twitter handle.
Raila Odinga earlier on Tuesday announced that he and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka have withdrawn from the repeat election, saying the IEBC has not undertaken any meaningful changes to its operations and personnel to ensure the repeat election is free and fair, as directed by the Supreme Court.
“The IEBC has stonewalled meaningful deliberations on the necessary reforms to ensure that the elections of 26th October are free and fair. It has wasted valuable time engaging in public relations exercises intended to create the illusion of motion without any movement,” the NASA coalition said in a statement.
“It is our conviction that our withdrawal is in the best interest of the country and a win-win for everyone,” NASA added.
The NASA coalition is now demanding that the IEBC cancel the October 26th repeat election and conduct fresh nominations.

Time is of essence Cheb, last time it was SC's chance. Your team has its chance now to make a Solomonic decision for Kenya. You decision is as supreme as any other decision on land.
"The NASA coalition is (now) demanding that the IEBC cancel the October 26th repeat election and conduct fresh nominations." Period.
