Controversial city businessman cum politician Steve Mbogo has filed a petition seeking to have Musician Charles 'Jaguar' Kanyi Njagua Starehe MP victory in the August 8th elections overturned.
Mbogo filed the petition at the Milimani law courts on Wednesday afternoon, where he expressed confidence that Jaguar's win will be nullified after he presents evidence of irregularities in the election before the court. The billionaire has said that ‘justice will prevail.’
”We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself. Filing my petition tomorrow at 9am … Starehe constituents have spoken … Justice must prevail,” he said on Instagram on Tuesday evening.
Steve was second in the Starehe MP race after garnering 38,294 votes against Jaguar’s 61,262 votes. Activist, Boniface Mwangi came third with 15,877 votes.
Mbogo contested on Raila-led Orange Democratic Movement against Jaguar and Mwangi, who used Jubilee and Ukweli parties respectively.
Losers continue to file petitions against their rivals in the August 8th polls, with a majority of them drawing motivation from last week's Supreme Court ruling that annulled President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory.
