National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters flooded the streets in celebration moments after the Supreme Court annulled the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the polls conducted on August 8th.
Huge celebrations were witnessed in Kisumu, Homabay, Siaya and Kibera and Mathare areas in Nairobi following the presidential election verdict delivered by judges led by Chief Justice David Maraga on Friday.
Reacting to the verdict, Kisii Governor James Ongwae said that Raila had finally been vindicated in his insistence that "the poll was doomed and could not be relied to give a proper outcome".
Opposition leader Raila Odinga termed the verdict a moment of history in Africa.
"This is a historic moment for Kenya and Africa. Our journey to Canaan is unstoppable. We have no faith in IEBC," he said.
" I thank our team of lawyers who burnt the midnight oil in preparation of this case. Like I said before, our journey to Caanan is unstoppable and we shall get there,".
The former Prime Minister at the same time declared war on the electoral commission IEBC, saying he has no faith in its officials to conduct another election.
“We have no faith at all in the electoral commission, they have committed criminal acts most of them actually belonging to jail and therefore we are going to ask for their prosecution,” Raila stressed.
