In Bomet County, with 337 out of 728 polling stations (36.6%) reporting incumbent governor Isaac Rutto of Chama Cha Maendeleo (CCM) trails Dr Joyce Laboso of Jubilee Party in the gubernatorial race.
Dr Laboso, the current MP for Sotik, currently has a large lead with 78,949 votes (68.96%), while Isaac Rutto has 35,542 votes (31.04%).
If the numbers hold up, Dr Laboso could be poised to become one of the first Kenyan women governors in history.
Rutto has been a vocal critic of the Jubilee government in a region that is mostly aligned to Deputy President William Ruto, and is one of the National Super Alliance (NASA) principals.
