A new poll released by Infotrak on Sunday indicate that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his rival National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga are in a dead heat in the contest for the presidency, with only15 days to the general elections.
In the new survey, President Kenyatta trails former Prime Minister Raila Odinga by one percentage point. Raila has a popularity rating of 47 percent, while Uhuru is at 46 percent. Six percent of Kenyans are undecided according to the poll.
The survey shows that 49 percent of Kenyans feel the country is headed in the wrong direction. They at the same time blame President Kenyatta for the high cost of living, increased corruption and poor infrastructure.
However, 47 percent of Kenyans are of the view the country is on the right path citing improved state of education, infrastructure, healthcare and stability.
The poll was carried out in 31 counties and 100 constituencies, with both Jubilee and NASA having equal popularity ratings at 45 percent each.
The poll suggests that majority of the 6 percent of undecided voters are from Western region.
The poll was conducted between July 16th and July 20th, where 2,000 respondents were interviewed.
