National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga alleges that President Uhuru Kenyatta is planning to reject poll results in the upcoming August 8th elections.
In a press briefing at his Capitol Hill Towers office in Nairobi, the former Prime Minister alleged that recent outbursts by the head of state directed at the Judiciary was an indication that President Uhuru Kenyatta will not be conceding defeat.
Odinga further maintained his earlier claims that the government was assembling a security team drawn from the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) to rig the elections.
National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale however, laughed off Raila Odinga’s claims, saying that it was him who has a history of not accepting elections results.
“The main motive of the Odinga group is to muddy and discredit the elections in an attempt to negotiate a coalition government. It will not happen,” he said.
Raila challenged President Kenyatta to promise to Kenyans that he will hand over power peacefully if he trounces him in the August 8 polls.
“There is a full scale mobilization and training of officers drawn from police, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forest Service, prisons and the military. This only happens in a dictatorship,” Odinga said.
“President Kenyatta appears to be preparing to reject the election results because he knows he will lose.
’We have seen over the years the increasing militarization of the State and the moving of the President around the country in military fatigues,” Odinga said.
“We are prepared for the General Election. We don’t want the election day to be moved even by one day because Kenyans have shown they are tired of this administration.”
